Skaggs Leads Aces To 8-6 Win in Triple-A Debut - KTVN

Tyler Skaggs worked seven-plus innings in his Triple-A debut Sunday afternoon, helping lift the Reno Aces to a 8-6 victory over the Las Vegas 51s at Aces Ballpark.

Skaggs (1-0)â€"Arizona's third-ranked prospectâ€"scattered five runs in his first start for the Aces, picking up the victory and helping the Aces even the series at a game apiece.

After trailing 3-1 through three-and-a-half innings, Reno scored three in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to take a lead that would stand up. After Skaggs' exit, Chris Jakubauskas allowed a run in the eighth, before Jonathan Albaladejo worked a scoreless ninth to pick-up his 14th save.

The loss on Sunday fell to Las Vegas starter Joel Carreno (2-3), who surrendered six runsâ€"five earnedâ€"on seven hits over innings.

At the plate for Reno, Cole Gillespie finished 4-for-4 with an RBI. Adam Eaton doubled and homered, while Josh Bell hit a two-run home run in the fifth, and Mike Jacobs doubled twice.

The Aces and 51s will hook-up again on Monday night at Aces Ballpark. RHP Charles Brewer (4-5, 5.29 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while RHP Shawn Hill (1-0, 4.09 ERA) counters for the 51s. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and it'll be another Om-Nom-Nomday presented by KTVN Channel 2 News with ribs available for just $1.

Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
