RENO, Nev.â"Tyler Skaggs worked seven-plus innings in his Triple-A debut Sunday afternoon, helping lift the Reno Aces to a 8-6 victory over the Las Vegas 51s at Aces Ballpark.
Skaggs (1-0)â"Arizonaâs third-ranked prospectâ"scattered five runs in his first start for the Aces, picking up the victory and helping the Aces even the series at a game apiece.
After trailing 3-1 through three-and-a-half innings, Reno scored three in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to take a lead that would stand up. After Skaggsâ exit, Chris Jakubauskas allowed a run in the eighth, before Jonathan Albaladejo worked a scoreless ninth to pick-up his 14th save.
The loss on Sunday fell to Las Vegas starter Joel Carreno (2-3), who surrendered six runsâ"five earnedâ"on seven hits over innings.
