Las Vegas 51s Edge Salt Lake Bees for 7-6 Win - KLAS-TV

LAS VEGAS â€" Designated hitter David Cooper's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning sealed a 7-6 victory for the Las Vegas 51s over the Salt Lake Bees Monday afternoon.

Salt Lake scored first in the third inning, when second baseman Matt Long connected on a two-run home run off 51s starter Jesse Chavez. Bees catcher John Hester added a three-run home run in the fourth inning to give Salt Lake the 5-0 lead.

Las Vegas responded in the bottom of the fourth inning, when outfielder Moises Sierra connected on a solo-shot home run. Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria made the score 5-2 with an RBI-single to left field.

The 51s then exploded for four runs in the sixth inning. The scoring run started when Hechavarria hit an RBI-line drive to left field. Outfielder Anthony Gose also connected on a three-run home run to give Las Vegas the 6-5 lead.

Salt Lake tied the game in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Long, but Cooper hit an RBI single in the eighth inning to give the 51s the go-ahead run.

Las Vegas closer Chad Beck shut the door in the ninth inning to seal the win and earn his fourth save of the season. Las Vegas reliever Ryota Igarashi picked up the win. Salt Lake pitcher Kevin Jepsen suffered the loss.
