Grizzlies report for 6/9 - Fresno Bee

Grizzlies 5, 51s 4

Thanks, Pablo: Pablo Sandoval hit two solo homers and Brock Bond's RBI single capped a two-run rally in the eighth as the Fresno Grizzlies earned a 5-4, come-from-behind victory over the Las Vegas 51s on Friday night at Chukchansi Park.

More Panda: Thanks to the two homers, Sandoval hit .273 (3 for 11) during his Triple-A rehab assignment. Both of the homers were hit left-handed. The first was a line drive that landed in the first row of the right-field bleachers; the second was a towering drive to center. Sandoval exited the game after six innings to head back to the San Francisco Giants, with infielder Brett Pill being sent down to the Grizzlies.

Leading off: Francisco Peguero led off and started in center field for the first time this season, although he has experience in both roles during his professional career. Justin Christian, third in the PCL with a .368 batting average, said he's a little banged up and needed a couple of days to rest.

MVP appearance: Vladimir Guerrero, the 1994 American League MVP, is believed to be the first former MVP to play at Chukchansi Park. Randy Johnson and Barry Zito are the two former Cy Young Award winners to have pitched at the downtown Fresno stadium. (And, of course, Tim Lincecum pitched there before winning two Cy Youngs.)

On second thought: A late scoring change from Thursday's game removed three earned runs from the record of RH Scott Munter, whose ERA fell from 11.25 to 7.88 as a result.

Up next: The series continues at 7:05 p.m. today with Grizzlies RH Eric Hacker (9-1, 3.05) facing 51s RH Andrew Carpenter (3-1, 4.14). Hacker leads the PCL in wins and ranks fifth in ERA.
