UNLV Rebels Vs. Air Force Falcons 9/22/12 Markâs Free College Football Pick Against the Spread
Air Force might be the sleeper in the Mountain West but could be in the middle of the standings but right now I have to see more of them before passing judgement. Through two games the Falcons have looked both good and bad at times with a 31-25 loss at Michigan displaying both. The defense gave up a 58 and 79 yard scoring runs which were plays that might have been the deciding factor. AFA totaled 417 yards with their signature ground attack plowing for 290 yards on 71 carries for a little better than four yard average with Cody Getz leading the charge with 130 yards on 26 carries with three trips to the end zone. The passing game was reasonably productive with Connor Dietz (10-19/127) missing on a few throws but the difference here was the Wolverines big play ability.
It looks as if 2012 will be another long year for UNLV football with the team off to an 0-3 start which is bad enough, but it has to be even more frustrating with all three defeats coming by just a single score. The Rebels gave Washington State a run for their money in 35-27 defeat but the Cougars had two scoring plays of more than 50 yards. The Rebels problem was an inability to run the ball with Tim Cornett (20-89) doing some damage but that was it with UNLV abandoning the run to play catch up. Nick Sherry (33-49/351) completed passes long, short and every thing in between with three scores and a pick with Marcus Sullivan grabbing six balls for 136 yards and a pair of TD's including a 75 yarder while 12 players made receptions.
Interesting match up and one wher I don't see the Air Force losing with their grinding run game. I think the Rebels are a decent home team and have a better offense than in past years so perhaps a cover is possible but not an upset...
Football is loosing its worth and pubic interest in the game. cricket is more into passion these days. but such events can help to deal with increasing the passion again.
