Las Vegas 51s Rally in Sixth to Defeat Tucson Padres - KLAS-TV

LAS VEGAS â€" The Las Vegas 51s rallied in the sixth inning to defeat the Tucson Padres 6-5 Wednesday night.

Tucson took the lead in the second inning on an RBI double by third baseman Jesus Merchan. The Padres added another run in the top of the third inning on a home run by outfielder Blake Tekotte.

Las Vegas tied the game in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Moises Sierra and a sacrifice fly by Eric Thames. The Padres rebounded in the top of the fourth inning when outfielder Jorge Padilla singled to center field, scoring Matt Clark and Merchan.

The 51s took the lead in the sixth inning. Anthony Gose singled on a ground ball, allowing Thames, Ricardo Nanita and Jonathan Diaz to score. Adeiny Hechavarria added an RBI single to give Las Vegas a 6-4 lead.

Tucson scored a run in the seventh inning, but Las Vegas reliever Jerry Gil pitched two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth innings â€" earning the save.

Las Vegas starter Jesse Chavez won his seventh game of the season. Tucson starter Kip Wells took the loss.
