Cats glance: 51s score nine late, clobber River Cats - Sacramento Bee

Turning point: With a one-run lead, the Las Vegas 51s scored five runs in the seventh and four in the eighth on the way to an 11-4 win over the visiting River Cats.

It's called versatility: River Cats infielder Luke Hughes pitched in the bottom of the eighth inning and got the only batter he faced to fly out to right field. Hughes then hit a one-out, two-run homer in the top of the ninth.

Who's hot: Josh Donaldson followed Monday's 4-for-5 performance with a 2-for-4 effort (including a double) to improve his batting average to .458.

Take a bow: Right-hander Dan Straily struck out eight in six innings as he regained first-place in all of minor league baseball with 124 strikeouts (including his stint with Double-A Midland).

Tonight: RHP Bruce Billings (4-1, 2.86 ERA) vs. Salt Lake LHP Greg Smith (2-5, 3.74), 7:05 p.m., Raley Field.
