Salt Lake Bees' swoon continues - Deseret News

The Bees suffered their ninth loss in their last 10 games, as Salt Lake dropped a 4-2 decision to the Las Vegas 51s on Saturday night.

John Hester delivered a two run single in the second inning gave the Bees a 2-0 lead.

Mike McCoy hit a solo homer in the third, his first career home run in 99 at-bats against Salt Lake, to cut the lead in half.

In the fourth, Travis d'Arnaud reached on an error by Bees' third baseman Luis Jimenez and David Cooper followed by driving a 1-0 pitch from Brad Mills to give the 51s a 3-2 advantage.

Adeiny Hechavarria would add an insurance run with a leadoff homer in the eighth off Salt Lake reliever Juan Rincon.

Mills (2-2) was the tough luck losing pitcher, as he went seven innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks. Jimenez led the Bees with two hits, but Doug Deeds and Andrew Romine each went hitless to snap Deeds' hitting streak at seven games and Romine's ended at six games.

Despite their recent swoon, the Bees still lead the Pacific Northern Division by one game over second place Colorado Springs.
