Salt Lake Bees blow 5-run lead, get swept by Las Vegas 51s - Deseret News

The Las Vegas 51s rallied from a 5-0 deficit to edge the Salt Lake Bees 7-6 on Monday to complete a four game series sweep.

The Bees grabbed a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two run homer by Matt Long, which was his first home run at the triple-A level. John Hester belted a three-run homer in the fourth to give Salt Lake a 5-0 lead, but the 51s scored two in the bottom of the inning to pull to within three. In the sixth, a three-run blast by Anthony Gose capped off a four-run rally to give Las Vegas the lead.

The Bees tied the game with an unearned run in the seventh, but an RBI single by David Cooper in the eighth regained the lead for the 51s. Kevin Jepsen (0-1) gave up the run in the eighth and was charged with the loss. Long had two hits and three runs batted in to lead Salt Lake, which has now dropped 11 of its last 12 games. In being swept, the Bees managed just 19 hits in the four game series.
