ESTERO, Fla. â" The Florida Everblades won their first-ever ECHL Kelly Cup with a 3-2 overtime win against the Las Vegas Wranglers Wednesday night.
Matt Becca set up Brandon MacLean for the Cup clincher 3:33 into overtime, giving the Everblades a four games to one victory in the best-of-seven championship series final.
Florida, which defeated the Kalamazoo Wings, four games to one, in the Eastern Conference finals, did not lose a game at Germain Arena in the postseason, going 11-0 at home.
Everblades goalie John Muse, who posted an 11-2 record in the postseason, was named the playoffâs most valuable player. He had a 1.78 goals-against average and a .939 saves percentage in those games.
