Final: Florida Everblades 7, Kalamazoo Wings 3 - MLive.com

END FIRST PERIOD

ESTERO, Fla. â€" Turnovers plagued the Kalamazoo Wings in Wednesday’s 7-0 loss, and a turnover Thursday led to the only goal of the opening period, giving the Florida Everblades a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

David Rutherford intercepted the puck and put a backhander past goalie Riley Gill with three minutes left.

The K-Wings excelled on the power play during the first part of the postseason, but came up empty on both chances Thursday. They’re now 1-for-14 with the man advantage in this series.

The Everblades had not power-play chances.

The K-Wings outshot Florida, 12-7, in the period.
