Lotus releases 2 teams from engine contracts - KLAS-TV

Lotus has released Bryan Herta Autosport and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing from its IndyCar engine contracts.

The struggling engine manufacturer cleared the way Tuesday for the two teams to align with either Chevrolet or Honda. This season is the first in seven years of multiple engine manufacturers, and Lotus has lagged behind.

The Lotus engines are scarce in availability, and short on horsepower. All Lotus teams have been limited in testing because of a lack of engine availability, and no Lotus teams participated in the open Indianapolis 500 test this month.

BHA driver Alex Tagliani has failed to finish the last two races, and the team is not traveling to this weekend's event at Brazil.

DRR driver Oriol Servia's will compete in Brazil with a Lotus, then be released.
