A season-high crowd came out to watch Nevada play Fresno State on Saturday night, and the Wolf Pack might have had a little stage fright early.
But after getting adjusted to Fresno Stateâs aggressive style of play, the Wolf Pack zoomed past the Bulldogs for its 13th straight victory (the second-longest active streak in the nation).
Deonte Burton scored a game-high 18 points, Malik Story tallied 17 and Dario Hunt had a double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds) as the Wolf Pack beat the Bulldogs, 74-61, in front of 7,016 fans at Lawlor Events Center.
The Wolf Pack trailed, 39-38, early in the second half before going on a 14-3 run. That spurt extended to a 25-9 run as Nevada buried a scrappy, yet undersized, Bulldog bunch.
For Fresno State (9-12, 1-4 WAC), Tyler Johnson scored a team-high 17 points, Jerry Brown added 14 and Kevin Olekaibe had 13.
The Wolf Pack (16-3, 5-0) capped its four-game homestand with a quartet of wins. Looming next for Nevada is a huge conference showdown at New Mexico State on Thursday. The Aggies entered their game late Saturday night at Hawaii with a perfect WAC mark.
