LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A defense attorney says a Las Vegas mother plans an insanity defense in the fatal scissors slaying of her 6-year-old daughter.
Deputy Clark County Public Defender Andrea Luem says 27-year-old Danielle Yvonne Slaughter will bypass a Tuesday evidentiary hearing in Las Vegas Justice Court and get a state court date.
That's where she'll make her plea in the March 11 slaying of Kyla Franks.
Slaughter faces a murder charge that could put her in prison for the rest of her life.
She told police she stabbed her daughter after the girl spoke "evil words" and laughed "in an evil voice."
Police found the mom naked and bloody in the streets near her northwest Las Vegas home.
She told police the blood was from the "lamb of God."
