The last time the Nevada basketball team lost a game you probably still had a belly full of turkey.
That team's last loss came the day after Thanksgiving when the Wolf Pack was dismantled by BYU, 76-55, at the Chicago Invitational.
Since then, the Nevada men's basketball team has been streaking into history. Here's a by-the-numbers look at Nevada's 11-game win streak as the Wolf Pack prepares to host Nebraska-Omaha at 7 p.m. today.
17
The Wolf Pack's current win streak isn't a program record, but is tied for the fourth-longest in school history. Nevada's best stretch was a 17-game win streak during the 1965-66 season when the program was in the Far Western Conference (now know as the Northern California Athletic Conference). The Pack also has a pair of 14-game win streaks, the latest coming in 2005-06.
11.5
The Wolf Pack's average margin of victory in the streak has been 11.5 points. Nevada has won six games by single-digits and five by double-digits. The most-lopsided win was a 24-point beating of UC Riverside. The closest shaves were three-point wins over Washington and Hawaii.
18.5
Not so coincidentally, the win streak has coincided with the improved play of point guard Deonte Burton. The sophomore is averaging 18.5 points per game and shooting 50 percent from the field during the streak. Prior to it, he was averaging 11.3 points per game and shooting 30.1 percent from the field.
184
The average RPI of the teams Nevada has beaten during the streak is 184. The only top-100 win in the run is the victory over Washington (No. 89). The lack of quality wins is holding Nevada out of the Top 25 rankings. The Wolf Pack, which is No. 71 in RPI, received only three votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll and zero in the AP poll.
2
The Wolf Pack's winning streak has actually spanned two years. In the meantime, there have been eight Republican primary debates and two caucuses. The Wolf Pack's 11-game spurt is the fifth-longest active streak in the nation behind Syracuse (20), Murray State (18), Baylor (18) and New Mexico (13).
