Bullpen Helps 51s Defeat Grizzlies 9-6 - KLAS-TV

LAS VEGAS â€" The Las Vegas 51s' bullpen held the Fresno Grizzlies scoreless for six innings Monday night as the 51s defeated the Grizzlies 9-6.

51s starting pitcher Nate Robertson struggled early, giving up three runs in the first inning to Fresno. The Grizzlies scored another run in the second inning, prompting 51s manager Marty Brown to go to his bullpen.

Relief pitchers Jesse Chavez and Bobby Korecky cooled the Grizzlies' bats, allowing Las Vegas to come back and take the lead. The 51s added runs in the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings, including an RBI triple by Adeiny Hechavarria in the fifth inning.

The 51s took a 9-4 lead into the top of the ninth inning. Fresno tried to mount a comeback, when Charlie Culberson and Chris Dominguez each homered off Las Vegas reliever Jim Hoey, but the Grizzlies came up short.

Chavez earned the win â€" his eighth of the season. Fresno starter Jason Stevenson suffered the loss.
