Vladimir Guerrero will join the Toronto Blue Jays Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas 51s, tomorrow, reports Shi Davidi of Sportsnet. Davidi also speculated that Guerrero could rejoin the Blue Jays as soon as next Tuesday.

After remaining on the market through the winter and spring, Guerrero signed a minor league contract with the Blue Jays on May 10. Guerrero’s deal with Toronto is worth a pro-rated $1.3 million based on how much time he spends at the major league level.

Guerrero got off to a hot start with the Blue Jays High-A affiliate, posting an OPS of 1.550 with four home runs and eight RBIs over four games and 20 at-bats. Guerrero’s next at-bat at the Triple-A level will be his first, as he’s never played at that level of the minors despite being 37 years old.

When he does eventually reach the majors, Guerrero is expected to be used as the club’s designated hitter. Edwin Encarnacion has been Toronto’s primary DH this season, but the slugger has spent more time at first following Adam Lind’s demotion.
