First Berkley Senate TV ad to run - KLAS-TV

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- After 14 years in Washington, Las Vegas Congresswoman Shelley Berkley is reintroducing herself as a champion for veterans with her first TV ad in Nevada's U.S. Senate campaign.

The 30-second spot features the father of an Iraq war veteran who died in 2007 after he was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress syndrome.

The father, Tony Bailey of Las Vegas, says Berkley reached out to him after the death and sponsored a bill to improve mental health services for veterans.

The emotional ad focuses largely on the Bailey family. Berkley speaks only to say she approves the advertisement. She is shown in two brief images.

The ad is scheduled to run on broadcast TV stations across northern Nevada, where her Republican rival, U.S. Sen. Dean Heller, is better known.
