NV Burton WAC hoops player of week, 3rd time - Sacramento Bee

RENO, Nev. -- Nevada sophomore Deonte Burton has been named the Western Athletic Conference men's basketball player of the week for the third time this season after helping extend the Wolf Pack's nine-game winning streak with victories at Idaho and Utah State.

The point guard from Los Angeles had 25 points and five assists Saturday night as Nevada snapped Utah State's 33-game WAC home win streak, 78-71. He had 26 points and made four-of-five 3-point attempts in the 73-55 win at Idaho.

For the week, Burton had 11 assists and just three turnovers as the Wolf Pack ran their record to 12-3. He averaged 25.5 points per game, made nearly 60 percent of his shots from the field and 47 percent from behind the arc.

Nevada hosts San Jose State on Thursday.
