Pro hockey: Defenseman Bobby Raymond re-signs with Everblades - Naples Daily News

The Florida Everblades announced Thursday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Bobby Raymond for the 2012-13 season.

Raymond, 27, returns to the Everblades after totaling 12 points (3g, 9a) and a plus-13 rating last season. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound blue-liner also recorded 10 points (2g, 8a) in 18 playoff appearances to help lead the club to its first Kelly Cup title last spring. Raymond also appeared in 38 games with the Binghamton Senators last season, logging four assists.

The Lucknow, Ontario, native posted a goal and an assist in nine playoff games during Binghamton’s Championship season in 2011. During that same season, he led all Everblades defensemen in points with 33 (8g, 25a) in 72 games played.

“Bobby is a proven winner, having won championships at the ECHL and AHL levels," Blades coach Greg Poss said. “He is a skilled defenseman, and has excellent skating ability. We are pleased to be able to bring back a player of his caliber to the team for next season.”

Prior to his professional career, Raymond played four seasons at Rochester Institute of Technology, totaling 41 career points (12g, 29a). He also played one season in France for Strasbourg playing in 26 games scoring four goals and six assists.

The Everblades will open up their 15th anniversary season at home on Friday, Oct. 12 against the Orlando Solar Bears.
