QINHUANGDAO, CHINA- Lehigh Acres has itself a world champion!
Lehigh Acres resident Tiara Brown became just the third women's boxer in United States history to win a world title, taking home the championship in the 125-pound weight class.
Brown won her gold medal match against Poland's Sandra Kruk on Saturday in China.
Brown has had a lot of success since moving to the featherweight division after fighting at 132 pounds during U.S. Olympic trials.
Brown had a successful run at the Olympic trials, finishing fourth, but came up a little short in her quest to compete in the 2012 London Games, the first time women's boxing has been an Olympic event.
Brown finished second at U.S. Nationals in 2011 and continues to prove that she's one of the top female boxers in the world as her young career continues.
